What is Smart Traveler Enrollment Program – STEP?
The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service for all U.S. citizens/nationals. Moreover, people who are traveling or living abroad can enroll with the local U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Benefits of Enrolling in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program – STEP
- Receive most important information from the Embassy about safety conditions in your destination country. Therefore helping you make informed decisions about your travel plans.
- Help the U.S. Embassy contact you in an emergency, whether natural disaster, civil unrest, or family emergency.
- Moreover Help family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency.
Here’s How to Enroll A Trip and get Alerts
When you are in the portal, you could see the below image,
click on it and you will be navigated further to Enroll A Trip Form page. Fill in your details in the required fields and continue the enrollment process.
If you are not traveling but want to Get Travel Advisories
If you are not traveling now, but want to get posted on safety conditions for a specific destination – overseas. Sign up for most important and latest Travel Advisories when they are available and posted on travel.state.gov

Firstly, before planning any trip abroad. Check the Travel Advisories for your intended destination. You can see the color coded map subsequently.

Create an Organization or a Group account, please click here.
Advisories on Social Media

However, due to social media algorithms that control the type and order of messages. You may not see them all. Hence, please see our individual country pages to view the Travel Advisory and recent Alerts for a specific country.
